Final Report, 2004. Monitoring and EvaluationHealth Profile of Gutu VDC of Surkhet Districts 2011-LHGSP Health Profile of Duruwa VDC of Dang District 2011-LHGSP Coverage and Compliance of Chlorhexidine (Kawach) Use and other Components of Community-based Program in Banke, Jumla and Bajhang Districts This report based upon findings from a survey in three districts that employed 30 clusters in each district and 20 RDW in each cluster, provides information on various components of community based intervention, such as ANC, delivery, postpartum and newborn care. In addition, the findings also includes use of Misoprostol by the women after the delivery and use of CHX on the cord stump of newborns. Coverage and Compliance of Chlorhexidine (Kawach) in Banke, Jumla and Bajhang Districts Studies have shown that immediate cleansing of umbilical cord with 4% CHX reduces the cord infection and reduces neonatal mortality by about 23%. This report provides detailed findings from a survey on CHX (Kawach) that was piloted in the three districts (Jumla, Bajhang and Banke) of Nepal. The survey employed 30 cluster design in each district and 20 recently delivered women (RDW) in each cluster, with a sample size of 600 RDW in each district. Results showed that the application of Kawach in the stump of newborns was two-thirds in Banke, 58% in Jumla and 47% in Bajhang. The compliance was about 70% in Banke and Bajhang but higher in Jumla (77%). Maternal and Newborn Health (MNH) Activities at Community Level Baseline and Endline Survey in Sindhuli 2011 The MNH Activities at CL intervention was initiated in Sindhuli in early 2009 with the objectives of increasing awareness amongst pregnant women and their families of danger signs during antenatal, delivery and postnatal periods; preparing mothers for delivery postnatal care of the mother; and essential newborn care. The program impact was assessed comparing the endline results with the baseline. In both surveys 30 clusters at the first stage were selected and then 30 RDW in the 2nd stage, with a total sample size of 900 RDW in each survey. The survey clusters in both of the surveys were same.
